So, you’ll just have to check out one of their legendary L.A./O.C. shows for that! After winning back to back awards and releasing an iTunes single, Lair of the White Worm, they are rapidly blowin’ up! I think the coolest thing is that critics are declaring that they may have created a new music genre. I would have to proudly agree. Keep your eyes and ears peeled for Damien B, Jesse St. John and Gianna Gianna. These mighty siblings are takin’ names and numbers like nobody’s business.

Listen up! I’m freshly back from a trip, and the BLOK show I attended is stuck on repeat in my solar plexus. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, BLOK is poised to take the world by storm. They are completely unique in their approach to music and performance. Attending their show is like watching a frenetic-kinetic piece of art eject fast lyrical rhymes set to throbbing funk and hip-hop beats. The wild performance entices and ensnares the audience into becoming part of the experience. It’s impossible not to dance and lose yourself in the beat. In fact, I found it challenging to steady my camera without grooving my limbs at the same time. I had to intermittently pause and hope I captured clear shots. These kids are fast and furious! I’m convinced they could power your city with the amount of collective energy generated on stage.

On August 3rd, BLOK debuted their first single Lair of the White Worm, on iTunes. You would be crazy not to download it for a whopping .99 cents!

They have recently been honored with 4 nominations and 1 win for Best Hip-Hop act at the 2010 Orange County Music Awards. OC Weekly also honored them as Best Hip-Hop Act for 2009. BLOK is a multi-faceted cutting edge act described as “avant-garde dance hip-hop.” They are known for engaging the audience with their unique show-stopping performances.

BLOK will be sharing the stage with The Raveonettes at the Rock The Runway show for The Art Institute of Orange County on May 8th. My heart is bursting with pride for them! Check them out!
